Three months ago, I announced that I would be moving on from For the Love of Tech to become the Senior Editor for North America of Neowin. One of the most frequent questions that I received was what would happen to For the Love of Tech.

I knew I had to focus all of my energy on Neowin, so if I was going to do anything with For the Love of Tech, it wasn't going to be immediate. I promised that the web site would still exist, the YouTube channel would continue to exist, and the apps would still work. The site and YouTube channel would see no new content, unless there was something that I wanted to do that I couldn't on Neowin, and the app still showed my Neowin videos and my Twitter feed.

I love Neowin. I love the people that I work with, and I love the job that I do. I couldn't be happier where I am now.

But after three months, I've come to a decision as to what For the Love of Tech will be. It will be the place that people can go to find the content that I create.

In a way, that's what For the Love of Tech has always been; however, previously, all of that content was under the FTLoT brand. Now, this content will be coming from a variety of sources, but mostly Neowin.

The all-new For the Love of Tech

With the exception of a rare rant, don't expect to see much action on This is what caused the need for a rethinking of the brand. After all, the Facebook page, the apps, the Google+ page, they all relied on content pulled from

Now, the Google+ and Facebook pages will show content from a variety of sources. Articles posted to Neowin will be shared to both. I've also been having some fun lately doing "Throwback Reviews", where I pull up photos from an old review and revisit it. Throwback Reviews will be on Instagram, but these will also be cross-posted to Twitter and Facebook.

In other words, the new For the Love of Tech is all about variety, and you'll be getting more content through it than you've ever seen before.

For the Love of Tech and For the Love of Tech Pro for Windows 8.1, Windows Phone 8.1, and Windows 10

As always, I have four apps in the Windows Store, which means that I've had to update all of them individually. Well, actually six apps, depending on how you slice it. Well, actually seven, if you count For the Love of Tech Video Beta. Well, actually eight, if you count For the Love of Tech Insider Preview, which is only available for those that acquired it while in the Store. Programming is a hobby of mine, so I enjoy doing these things.

I'm talking about For the Love of Tech and For the Love of Tech Pro, the two main apps, both of which offer a Windows 8.1 universal app and a Windows 10 UWP app.

The new apps get rid of the dozens of FTLoT feeds that fed into it, so the good news is that it will load a heck of a lot faster. The bad news is that you can't search for old reviews anymore. If you need to do that, you can always head over to Hell, maybe I'll make a Westminster app just for that...

So, without the FTLoT feeds, what is there? Well, starting from the top, we have a Neowin feed. Following that is the same YouTube feed from the old app, which interestingly enough, is the only part of the old app that still works. It actually feeds off of a playlist instead of a channel, which allowed me to keep adding videos to the app.

The Twitter feed has been updated, as it was high time to ditch @RWoods716. I'm now @TheRichWoods. Finally, I've added the FTLoT Facebook feed.

Between the Neowin, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter feeds, you should be able to find just about anything that I post. If you enjoyed the old app, you should love the new one.

There's just one issue. Since it's not specifically my content, you'll have to click on external links to view full articles.

But I have good news! As of right now, these are live, and if you download For the Love of Tech Pro between 12:00 AM and 11:59 PM today, it will be free. Starting tomorrow, it will be $0.99. Beginning on May 17, it will be $1.49. Finally, on May 24, it will go back to its regular price of $1.99. As always, the regular For the Love of Tech app is free.

You can download For the Love of Tech Pro right here! Remember, it's free for 24 hours!

For the Love of Tech Video Beta

For the Love of Tech Video will see no changes with this, as this app has been functioning perfectly this entire time. It's focused on video content, which pulls data from YouTube playlists, which I've been keeping up to date.

If you were looking for this app to come out of beta, you'll be waiting longer, probably until around July.

For the Love of Tech Video was designed with the Xbox One in mind, knowing that UWP apps would soon be available on the console. As we get closer to the release of the Anniversary Update, the time will come to focus on this app.

For the Love of Tech for Android

For the Love of Tech for Android has always been the least popular of the apps. It makes sense, since FTLoT primarily covered Microsoft.

Sadly, it's not good news for FTLoT for Android. The new version of the app will include the Neowin feed and the Twitter feed, but that's it.

For the Love of Tech for Android is available from Google Play and the Amazon Appstore.

As always, thanks for being a tech lover! As always, here's some hot chicks in body paint.
